Operation Chill, which was developed by 7-Eleven, is aimed at encouraging positive behavior by kids and teens at a time of year when crimes like loitering, shoplifting, and vandalism are often on the rise.

The LPD hopes the program will also foster good relations between police officers and young residents.

“Community well-being and crime prevention takes a team effort and our young people are an integral part of that equation," LPD Chief Richard McLaughlin said in a statement.

Speaking of Slurpees, today—July 11—is your chance to grab one for free. Details here.
