Local Firefighters Participate in Evacuation Drill

Laurel firefighters and emergency personnel took part in a fire evacuation drill Monday.

Laurel Fire and EMS personnel participated in an evacuation drill of a high rise commercial building on Monday.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC), headquartered in Laurel, partnered with Trey Kelso, the Laurel volunteer fire department's deputy chief, to coordinate the exercise.

The drill was conducted to test evacuation plans and standard operating procedures, as well as to allow public safety personnel to become familiar with the building’s interior, according to the Prince George’s County Fire Department.
