Shoplifter Caught at Safeway, Man High on PCP Arrested: Laurel Crime

A rundown of recent arrests and police responses.

The following is a rundown of notable arrests and police responses in the City of Laurel from July 26-30, 2013. Incident details from the Laurel Police Department are listed where available. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

Friday, July 26

OPEN WARRANT | 13600 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers made contact with a 41-year-old man who was found to have an open warrant for theft over $1000.00. He was placed under arrest.

TRESPASSING | 15101 Baltimore Ave. (Azteca Bar & Restaurant): Officers came in contact with a 26-year-old man who was arrested for trespassing. 

DRUG CHARGES | 14800 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. Drug paraphernalia was found and two female occupants, 23 and 25 years old, were arrested.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT | 15101 Baltimore Ave. (Azteca Bar & Restaurant): Officers came in contact with 24-year-old who was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Saturday, July 27

DRUG POSSESSION | 400 block of Montgomery St.: Officers came into contact with a 55-year-old man who was highly intoxicated and high on PCP. A vial of PCP was located on his person. Due to medical conditions, he was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital. A warrant will be filed for the drug possession charges. 

DUI ARREST | 15000 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver, a 37-year-old man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. 

DUI ARREST | 100 block of Washington Blvd.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver, a 36-year-old man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. 

DRUG ARREST | 300 block of Washington Blvd.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. Two men, 25 and 20 years old, were arrested for drug possession.

Sunday, July 28

DUI ARREST | 200 block of Bowie Rd.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and made contact with the driver, a 28-year-old man. Through investigation, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

ARREST | 15100 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and made contact with the driver, a 31-year-old man. He was found to be driving without a license and was arrested. 

DUI ARREST | 500 block of Seventh St.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and made contact with the driver, a 57-year-old man. Through investigation, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Monday, July 29

SHOPLIFTING ARREST | 14100 block of Baltimore Ave.: Officers responded to the Safeway for the report of a shoplifter. Officers made contact with a 59-year-old male suspect. Through further investigation it was revealed that the man stole several items from the store. He was placed under arrest.

WARRANT ARREST | 800 block of Thomas Dr.: Officers made contact with a 24-year-old male subject who had an open traffic warrant. He was placed under arrest.

ASSAULT ARREST | 100 block of Second St.: Officers responded to the area for an assault report. Officers met with a subject who had multiple injuries to his face. After further investigation, two juvenile subjects were arrested for the assault on the victim.

Tuesday, July 30

DOMESTIC ASSAULT | 9400 block of Spring House Ln.: A 25-year-old woman was arrested for second degree assault. 

WARRANT ARREST | 300 block of Gorman Ave.: Officers made contact with a 21-year-old man and confirmed there was an open warrant out for his arrest. He was placed under arrest.
