Larry Porter visits paramedics who saved him from machine in April.

A West Virginia man stopped by the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Monday to thank his rescuers.

Larry Marshall Potter, 60, Maysville, WV, visited with the firefighter, medics and members of the Technical Rescue Team who rescued him after he became trapped in a mulch machine along Van Dusen Road.

At one point, a total of 50 firefighters and medics were on the scene at Grant County Mulch, including medical professionals from the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital, according to Prince George’s Fire/EMS officials. Potter’s legs were severely injured during the incident.

But on Monday, Potter was all smiles as he greeted firefighters and medics along with his family. Potter was using a wheelchair for mobility.
