Maryland State Trooper Struck by Vehicle in Beltsville

The trooper's injuries were said to be non-life threatening.

Authorities say a Maryland State Police trooper was struck by a vehicle in Beltsville around midday Friday.

According to Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady, the incident occurred in the 10100 block of Baltimore Ave. The trooper's injuries were said to to be non-life-threatening. 

Baltimore Avenue is closed to traffic in the area of the incident, Brady reported.

Correction: An initial report stated that the accident may have been connected with a shooting, but it was later established that the trooper was struck during a high-speed pursuit. This article has been updated accordingly.
