The body of a missing Prince George's County man found at the scene of a Virginia car crash Wednesday has prompted authorities to take a second look at what they thought was a fatal car wreck.

At 7:17 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a reported car crash near Jefferson Davis Highway and Blackburn Road, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Inside the 2013 Chrysler 200, they found a dead man. Police initially reported Wednesday that the man had died in the accident when his car left the roadway.

However, an autopsy revealed “no signs of trauma from the crash or foul play,” according to the police department.

The man inside the car was Frankie Neal Stewart, a 57-year-old who was reported missing Friday from Seat Pleasant, Md., according to police.

WTOP reports that a Silver Alert had been issued for Stewart earlier this week.

The investigation into Stewart’s death continues.
