North Laurel Man Dies In Western Howard County Crash

The man, a 53-year-old from Laurel, died on the scene, police said.

A Laurel man died Monday night after his vehicle crashed into a fence in Lisbon, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Russell Newton Estep, a 53-year-old from the 10300 block of Scaggsville Road, died on the scene, police said. He was the only person in his vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

The crash happened at about 8:43 p.m. Estep was driving a 1997 BMW M-3 east on Dorsey Mill Road when the car went off the right side of the road while rounding a curve, police said.

The car crashed into an embankment, then crossed over into the westbound side of the street and collided with a split-rail fence on that side of the road, police said.

Police believe the crash was caused by "failure to drive within a single lane."
