Officer Injured in Shooting Released from Hospital

The officer seriously injured in a shooting on Wednesday was released from the hospital over the weekend.


The Howard County Police Officer who was injured in a shooting on Route 1 in North Laurel was released from the hospital over the weekend, announced police.

Officer Steven Houk, 30, a two year veteran of the force, was seriously injured when he was shot on Wednesday in an exchange of gunfire on the Route 1 roadway near the Savage line.

Police arrested Stephon Prather, 29, after they said he opened fire on officers responding to a call of a suspicious man with a gun at CarMax. Prather was arrested Thursday after an all-night manhunt.
