Police: $90,000 in Equipment, Scrap Taken From Laurel Mall Site

The stolen items included five large dumpsters full of metal and two large building chillers.

Authorities say they're investigating the theft of some $90,000 in equipment and scrap metal from a construction site at the former location of Laurel Mall.

According to Laurel police, officers responded to the scene in the 14800 block of Baltimore Ave. around 6:06 a.m. Sunday.

A supervisor told police that five large dumpsters full of scrap metal had been stolen from the job site.

Two large building chillers—each about 5 feet by 12 feet by 25 feet—are also missing, police said, along with several other tools and machines.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092.

Laurel Mall was shuttered in May of last year and is currently being redeveloped into the Town Centre at Laurel, an open-air retail center.
