Police Arrest Ten in North Laurel Prostitution Sting

Howard County Police continue to target the Route 1 corridor in Laurel, as complaints about prostitution come from citizens.

 

The Howard County Police Department announced Tuesday that 10 men were arrested in a reverse prostitution sting along the Route 1 corridor in North Laurel on Friday.

Undercover female officers worked in areas where citizens have complained about prostitution, and arrested 10 men who approached them and offered money for sex, according to a statement from the department.

This is the second reverse prostitution sting of 2012. Officers

Sherry Llewellyn, spokesperson for Howard County Police, told Laurel Patch that Route 1 has been targeted due to residents’ complaints and that the operation has been ongoing for years.

Police have seen fewer reports from residents over the years, according to Llewellyn.

"This has been an ongoing operation for years with a goal of showing people [prostitution] is not acceptable in Howard County,” she said. “These operations are very popular among the community.”

The following men were arrested and face charges for soliciting prostitution:

Miguel Barbosa-Palacios, 37, of Riverdale
Preston Harrison McGriff, 38, of Laurel
Jose Quintanilla-Rivera, 38, of Laurel
William Howard Maisel, 46, of Kensington
Vincent Carvel Moore, 53, of Jessup
Ashton Nicholas Penny, 20, of Gwynn Oak
Victor Manuel Mendez, 24, of Riverdale
Steven Albert Bartimo, 37, of Laurel
William Hezekiah Davis, 47 of King George, VA
Eugene Anthony Burgess, 39, of Glen Burnie
