Police: Woman Robbed at Knifepoint in Maryland City

Investigators are working to identify a suspect.

Authorities say a woman was robbed at knifepoint Wednesday afternoon in Maryland City.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers responded to the 200 block of Easton South around 3:20 p.m. on a report of a robbery.

When they arrived, a 33-year-old woman at the scene told police she had been pushing a shopping cart down the road when an unknown man approached her and "engaged her in casual conversation."

Suddenly, she said, the man pulled out a knife, demanded her purse, forced it off of her arm, and fled the area.

Officers canvassed the vicinity but were uable to locate the suspect, police said. He's described as a 5'9" man in his 30s who was wearing a white T-shirt and tan shorts at the time.

The woman was unharmed in the incident.
