Robber Hits International Food Market

Police search for man who robbed a Laurel market.

Police in Anne Arundel County are searching for a man who robbed the International Food Market Store earlier this week.

According to police, the theft took place Tuesday just before 3 p.m. along the 3500 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with employees who indicated that a male entered the store, approached the cash register and displayed a handgun in his waistband.

The suspect then demanded money from a store employee who turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. The man then exited the store and fled in a gray sedan, likely a Ford Escort, accompanied by another individual who was in the passenger side of the vehicle, according to police.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call, email, or text a tip to Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline Available 24-Hours A Day Toll Free at 1-866-7LOCKUP or Text “MCS plus your message” to CRIMES (274637). Or visit the website at http://www.metrocrimestoppers.net.

Joshua, Joshua, Joshua... c'mon, mate! This robbery was two days ago. Why the "Breaking News Alert" now?

That's par for the course with the Laurel Patch. Aside from the occasional weekly police blotter, many crime/police investigation stories are left out of the "virtual pages" of the Patch. some are thrown out days after they happen.
