Three Break-Ins at Route 1 Businesses: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Jessup: Commercial Robbery

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 18, an unknown suspect approached an employee at the Royal Farms, on the 8600 block of Washington Boulevard, displaying a gun and demanding cash. The employee gave the suspect money and then the suspect fled north on Route 1.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, a suspect broke a glass door of El Patio Market, on the 7900 block of Washington Boulevard, stealing cigarettes. A witness described the suspect to officers and they located the suspect about an hour and a half later. The suspect was arrested and his identity was confirmed. Police are investigating whether this event is related to an earlier incident at the same store.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Sept. 17, an unknown number of suspects attempted to enter the 2 Go Convenience Store, on the 9000 block of Washington Boulevard, by damaging a front glass door but failed to gain entry.

Elkridge: Break-In

Between Sept. 13 and Sept. 16, an unknown number of suspects broke a glass panel in a basement door of a residence on the 6600 block of Pheasant Drive, stealing jewelry.

Clarksville: Break-In

Between 9 a.m. on Sept. 13 and 6:30 p.m. the following day, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 5900 block of Bright Flow Mews, stealing cash and change.

Columbia: Break-In

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 17, an unknown number of suspects entered the rear sliding glass door of a residence on the 9400 block of Bullring Lane. Police said nothing was reported stolen.

Columbia: Break-In

On Sept. 17, a witness observed an unknown suspect entering an open garage of a residence on the 10200 block of Rutland Round Road, stealing a bicycle and fleeing toward Broken Land Parkway.

North Laurel: Break-In

Between 7:50 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, an unknown number of suspects entered a residence on the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow, stealing an mp3 player, change and jewelry. This incident is listed as “late reported.”

Ellicott City: Break-In

Between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 15, an unknown number of suspects entered the side door on a garage of a residence on the 10100 block of Bracken Drive, entering a vehicle and stealing sunglasses, an mp3 player, a credit card and change.

Ellicott City: Break-In

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Sept. 17, an unknown number of suspects entered the garage of a residence on the 10300 block of Gretchen Nicole Court, entering a vehicle and stealing items.

Ellicott City: Indecent Exposure

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Sept. 17, an unknown suspect driving a 1977 Datsun followed a female victim into a parking lot on the 3100 block of Normandy Woods Drive and exposed himself to her. Police located the suspect, a Halethorpe man, and charged him with indecent exposure.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, a vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on the 8900 block of Early April Way. Police located the vehicle at a suspect’s residence and charged the Columbia woman with motor vehicle theft and unauthorized removal of property.

Elkridge: Vehicle Theft Attempt

Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, a suspect attempted to steal a vehicle from a residence on the 5800 block of Hunt Club Road.

West Friendship: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 17, a gray 2007 Ford F-250 was stolen from a residence near the intersection of I-70 and MD 32.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 6 a.m. on Sept. 17, a black 2007 Nissan Murano with MD tags 5AA1323 was stolen from a residence on the 9700 block of Early April Way.

Columbia: Vehicle Theft

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, a trailer was stolen from a residence near the intersection of Berger Road and Gerwig Lane.

Savage: Vehicle Theft

Shortly before noon on Sept. 17, a trailer was stolen from a residence on the 8800 block of Greenwood Place.
