Three Named 'Officers of the Month' After South Laurel Incident

Corporal Kenny Cheung, Officer Michael Risher, and Officer Michael Stargel captured two armed robbery suspects.

Three members of the Prince George's County Department have been named "Patrol Officers of the Month" for their role in capturing a pair armed robbery suspects in South Laurel.

On April 17, District VI Corporal Kenny Cheung, Officer Michael Risher, and Officer Michael Stargel responded to a report of an armed robbery at an apartment complex on Avebury Drive.

When they arrived, they made contact with the victim and established a perimeter around the victim's building.

Two suspects tried to escape but ran back inside when they saw the officers, police said. The suspects eventually surrendered to police.

Two loaded handguns were also recovered from the scene, according to the PGPD.
