Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Laurel

Two people are dead in Laurel in an apparent murder-suicide, according to Laurel police.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. along the 14100 block of Shiloh Court at an apartment complex. According to police, a woman was gunned down in the parking lot of the complex near her vehicle in front of her 10-year-old son.

Laurel and Prince George's County police say the suspect was the child's father, who then fled the scene and shot himself behind a senior citizens home along Cherry Lane.

Police have not yet released the names of the woman or the suspect. According to residents at the apartment complex, the woman was the mother of four children. Witnesses said the woman was apparently preparing to take the son to school when the shooting occurred. The child was not injured, according to witnesses.
