Two-Alarm Blaze Displaces Three Residents in Maryland City

One resident had to be evacuated with a ladder truck.

A two-alarm blaze left three residents displaced from a Maryland City apartment complex on Tuesday.

Around 4 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Ashley Apartments in the 200 block of Red Clay Road for a report of a fire.

They arrived to find smoke pouring from a three-story building, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, prompting the immediate activation of a second alarm.

The fire was brought under control after about 45 minutes, officials said, and was contained to the apartment in which it began. 

Some 67 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Prince George's, and Howard Counties as well as Fort Meade were involved in the response.

One resident of the building had to be removed by way of a ladder truck. Red Cross assistance was also requested for two adults and a child displaced by the blaze, officials said.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The damage caused by the fire was estimated at $75,000.
