UPDATE: Alcohol Responsible for Fatal Laurel Car Crash, Police say

No charges filed against driver responsible for Sunday crash that killed a North Laurel Man.

A mix of speeding and alcohol are behind a fatal Sunday car accident that killed a North Laurel man, according to Prince George’s County Police.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the full cause of the accident, which occurred along the intersection of Laurel-Bowie Road and Montpelier Drive Sunday afternoon.

According to police, Olufemi Olagbaju, 56, of 9200 Fulton Avenue when a 2005 Mercedes-Benz traveling southbound struck a his vehicle.

The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has not been charged in the incident, according to Cpl. Henry Tippett, a police spokesman.

The Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit is still investigating the accident. It could be months before charges are sought against the driver of the vehicle, Tippett said.
