Victim Grabs Gun From Would-Be Robber in Maryland City

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning at Maryland City Plaza.

Authorities say a man was able to wrestle away a gun from a would-be armed robber Tuesday morning at Maryland City Plaza.

Around 1:47 a.m., Anne Arundel County police responded to the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road for a report of an attempted armed robbery.

According to police, a 22-year-old male victim at the scene told officers that he and his friends had been sitting in the rear parking lot of the plaza when an unknown man approached them. The suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money.

But when the assailant became distracted, the victim was able to grab the man's gun, police said. The suspect then fled the scene.

Police canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. He is described as a black male approximately 6’1” tall with a thin build and tattoos on his neck. He was reportedly wearing a black ski mask, a black windbreaker with red lettering, and black nylon sweatpants at the time of the robbery.
