Weekend Fire Displaces 29 Residents

Saturday fire at apartment complex near South Laurel.

A Saturday afternoon apartment fired has displaced 29 people, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS.

The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. at a apartment complex along the 8800 block Hunting Lane. According to reports, 65 firefighters and paramadeics responded to the scene battling the blaze for 15 minutes. There were no reports of injuries.

The fire destroyed 13 apartment units in two buildings. According to Mark Brady, Fire/EMS spokesman, the fire appeared to be accidental and started by malfunctioning furnace.Fire loss is estimated $250,000, he added.
