Woman Seriously Injured in Savage Dirt Bike Crash

The 22-year-old Laurel resident was taken to Shock Trauma.

Authorities say a woman was seriously injured Wednesday evening when her dirt bike collided with a car on Knights Bridge Road in Savage.

According to Howard County police, Emily Rose Day, 22, of Laurel was riding southbound around 10:31 p.m. when her Honda dirt bike crashed into a northbound Mitsubishi Lancer making a left turn onto Stebbing Way.

The driver of the Mitsubishi did not see Day, police said in a statement, as her bike was not equipped with with lights and "is not legal to operate on public highways."

Day was transported by Maryland State Police to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where she was listed in serious but stable condition. She was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The other driver, a 58-year-old Laurel resident, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
