Laurel Council Meeting: Laurel Mall Public Hearing, Boundary Changes

Council meets tonight at 7 p.m.

Laurel residents wanting to voice their concerns about the pending Laurel Mall revamp will get a second chance tonight during a public hearing on the site plan.

Laurel Council members will meet at 7 p.m. in the Laurel Municipal Center for their monthly meeting. On the agenda is discussion of the site plan for the new Town Centre at Laurel. Also up for discussion is a plan to balance the population of the city’s wards as part of a U.S. Census review.

During a recent work session, Council members were still fine-tuning plans for the mall redevelopment, including transportation and traffic concerns along Fourth Street.

A final vote may be looming for recommendations for the city’s Census Ward Boundary Citizen Review Committee, which is recommending balancing the population in the city’s two voting districts by increasing the size of Ward 1.
