Laurel Opens Cooling Centers

High heat and humidity causes city to open cooling centers.

Faced with a heat wave that will cause temperatures to rise to the upper 90s, Laurel Mayor Craig Moe has announced that the city will open cooling stations from Tuesday to Friday.

Due to the high heat and humidity in the upcoming days, the city will open the Anderson-Murphy Armory, located at 422 Montgomery Street, as a cooling station between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The Laurel City Pools will open an hour early Tuesday through Friday. The new hours of operation for the Laurel Municipal Pool, located at 9th and Main Streets, and the Greenview Drive Pool Complex, located at 14403 Greenview Drive, will be from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
