Laurel Opens Cooling Centers

As heat wave looms, city takes action.

As the summer temperatures began to rise, the City of Laurel has announced it will be extending hours at municipal pools and opening a cooling center through Thursday for residents.

Mayor Craig Moe announced Wednesday that during the forecasted heat wave, both the Laurel Municipal Pool and the Greenview Drive Pool will open at 11 a.m.

The Center will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and serve as a cooling center. Residents can contact the Laurel Department of Parks and Recreation at 301-725-7800 for more information.
