Laurel's Summer Job Program Set To Return

The summer youth job program will run from late June through mid-August.

The City of Laurel’s summer job program will return this year, Mayor Craig Moe announced this week.

The “Mayor’s Summer Jobs” program will begin in late June and continue through mid-August. The program provides employment opportunities for Laurel youth during the summer months. 

The status of the program had been in question since last year, when the Laurel Council approved eliminating spots from the program due to budget constraints. At the time, the city was .

No deficits appear in the , which is set to begin July 1. Moe thanked the council members in a statement for their continued support of the program.

The program will be open to city youth who are 14 to 16-years old on the first day of the program. Participants can expect to earn about $7.25 an hour for 20 hours a week. Work assignments may include general office work and inspection assistance, among other tasks.
