Newt Gingrich Wins in South Carolina

What does Gingrich's win in the South Carolina primary mean for the GOP in Maryland and elsewhere?

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told an audience in South Carolina Saturday night that "the genius of America ... is that you can come from any background" and be successful in having an impact on the country.

"It is very humbling and very sobering to have so many people who so deeply want their country to get back on the right track," Gingrich said. "So many people ... feel that the elites in Washington and New York have no understanding, no care ... no reliability and, in fact, do not represent them at all."

Referring to the news media, he said, "The American people feel that they have elites who have been trying for a half century for force us to quit being American."

Gingrich was declared the winner of the South Carolina Republican primary, besting Mitt Romney, who has been the declared frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum.

To chants of "U.S.A!," "U.S.A!," "U.S.A!," Gingrich predicted he will be the nominee and he challenged President Obama to seven three-hour debates.

You have got to be kiddin'--Trump is as fake as his hair... And somewhere along the line there has GOT to be some real awareness of the price of two wars-TWO- an almost unheard of event in US history.....They were "unfunded" and anyone with any sense of monetary awareness had to be asking "how are these going to be paid for"? It does not serve the comfort level well, or the stock market, to make real pointed issues of some of these things...but common sense will make you wonder how all those guns and ammo were paid for...oh...I forgot...HALIBURTON!--gees, I wonder just who at the national level might have had some imput into that...hmmmm There is so much stink over the covert escapades of guns for loyalty, (am I among the minority who remembers Ollie North and the implications of his deeds?) etc., it can really make one wonder what in the world has happened to a good idea....DEMOCRACY

I agree with Judith Smith... Scary to think there are people out there that "actually" believe that Trump should be President of the U.S. What planet do these folks come from?

Trump would do better than any of the current candidates against Obama though... The apathetic would perk up, pay attention and many more would vote.... no question about it. I also believe that he would do a better job of managing the country than all of the other candidates combined. I really don't like the guy but he would succeed as the President.
