Rushern Baker Wants Businesses More Involved in County Schools

Prince George's County Exec urges local businesses to partner with schools.

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker is urging local businesses to get more involved with county schools as a way to improve the school system.

Last week, Baker restated his focus on improving schools, stating that its success is everyone’s business, according to The Washington Post.

“We must focus like a laser on improving our education system. For, without a strong school system and a well-educated and trained workforce, it will be difficult for us to attract corporations to relocate their business to our county or prevent existing ones from moving out,” he told the Post.

Baker proposed that businesses partner with schools by mentoring students and providing internships, as well as helping improve the science and math curriculum.
