"Mothers of Invention" Family Science Night

Did you know that Bette Nesmith Graham developed "Mistake Out" (AKA Liquid Paper) in 1956 (and earned a fortune of $50 million)? Or that Randice-Lisa Altschul was issued a series of patents for the world's first disposable cell phone in 1999? What about Mary-Clair King, who showed in 1973 that human and chimpanzee genomes are 99% identical? Today, hundreds of thousands of women apply for and receive a patent every year. How many women inventors are there? More than you can count and growing. You might be surprised to learn how many women have contributed to inventions, science, math and engineering. Come join us to learn about some of them, and have fun at the same time! There will be hands-on activities, planetarium presentations, Challenger Center mini-missions, and many chances to learn new and exciting things.
