Laurel College Standouts: Delaware Valley, Mount St. Mary's Dean's Lists

Notable accomplishments in and out of the classroom by Laurel natives.

Below, find a roundup of the latest honors, degrees, and extracurricular accomplishments from Laurel-area college (and academy) students. Descriptions are courtesy of the institutions named and/or students' family members.

Delaware Valley College: Dr. Bashar Hanna, Delaware Valley College's vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, announced that June Dickinson of Laurel has been honored for academic achievement by being named to the spring 2013 Dean's List.

Elizabethtown College: Brian Boring of Laurel graduated from Elizabethtown College on Saturday, May 18 with a bachelor's degree in Communications.

Mount St. Mary's University: Mount St. Mary's University is pleased to announce 552 students who earned dean's list honors for the spring 2013 semester. They include:

  • Tyler Curp of Laurel, son of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Curp
  • Claire McGrath of Laurel, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Michael McGrath
  • Evan Oliver of Laurel, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Oliver
  • Matthew Waller of Laurel, son of Mr. & Mrs. William Waller

Randolph-Macon Academy: Andre J Lake, the son of Linda Howe-Lake of Laurel, recently received an Honorable Mention to the Delaney Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for his impressive performance on the varsity baseball team at Randolph-Macon Academy this past spring. Andy is a senior at the Academy.

Lake was also recognized during the Spring Family Weekend parade for superior performance in Air Force JROTC. Andy was presented The Purple Heart Scholarship, which is given in recognition of outstanding leadership, exceptional service and distractive performance in all areas of cadet life. This award is sponsored by the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States.
