New Principal Readies Pallotti High

School sees third principal in two years.

A new school year is set to start at and students will be greeted by a new principal come September.

Jeff Palumbo, 50, will be taking the reins as principal, reports the Laurel Leader. Palumbo is the school’s third leader in two years after the departures of David McKenzie and Steve Edmonds.

Still, Palumbo said he is hopeful that he will be embraced by the school community.

"Everyone [at the school] has come through this pretty positively," Palumbo told the Leader. "There was a lot going on, with the old principal leaving, a new one coming in and then leaving. There was a lot of concern, but [interim principal Rick Diggs] did a great job to keep things going in a positive direction. There's a lot of great teachers and administrators that have been here a long time, so the foundation is still here."

Palumbia said he will focus on strengthening the school’s academic programs. His background includes leadership and teaching roles at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn; DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville; Towson Catholic High School; and the San Miguel Middle School.
