Schools Recognized by Maryland Food Bank

Students from throughout Maryland who participated in the "Kids Helping Kids" program were honored on May 30 at the Halethorpe-based nonprofit.

Now in is 22nd year, Kids Helping Kids is a partnership between Maryland Food Bank, Maryland State Department of Education, Harvest for the Hungry as well as local soup kitchens, pantries and shelters, according to the organization.

This year, 515 schools participated in the campaign. Students collected 462,497 pounds of food and raised $120,814 in monetary donations, food bank officials said.

• Cora L. Rice Elementary School (Prince George’s County): 12,157 lbs.
• Marriotts Ridge High School (Howard County): 7,025 lbs.
• Lindale Middle School (Anne Arundel County): 6,677 lbs.
• Cockeysville Middle School (Baltimore County): 6,592 lbs.
