Capitol Hill Restoration Society House and Garden Tours

After heading over to the Laurel Main Street Festival, you can take a quick drive to Capitol Hill to take part in the Capitol Hill Restoration Society's House and Garden Tours.

It is Mother’s Day weekend and contrary to popular belief this is what marks the unofficial beginning of summer in the Metro Washington area and not Memorial Day. Why do I say this?  Well, each year the Capitol Hill Restoration Society has its home and garden tours over the Mother’s Day weekend.

The walking tour takes place over the course of two days.  Information on each home is available in a portable program book that is distributed at each location along the tour route. The stores begin Saturday, May 7 at 4 p.m. and run until 7 p.m. and then pick up again on Sunday, May 8 at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.

Tickets for the tour have been on sale for some time now; however, you can still purchase tickets at the CHRS web site. The Old Naval Hospital is one of the first stops on the 14 stop walking tour.

The tour offers a glimpse into life on Capitol Hill over its 200 year history. The $30 ticket price is affordable and helps to help fund the CHRS community grant program.  Read more:
