Howard County Police on 'Saturation Patrol' Super Bowl Sunday

Police will have an increased presence on the road "after the Ravens win" Sunday's match.

A great Super Bowl party usually involves a big television, lots of food and, in the case of a Ravens' party, probably some adult beverages.

Howard County Police know that. Chief William McMahon said in a statement released by the police department, “We want people to have a great time and celebrate. We just ask that you designate a driver before you drink alcohol.”

Howard County police will be on “saturation patrol” after, the statement read, “the Ravens’ Super Bowl win.”

The increased presence will work to keep impaired drivers off the road on what is “one of the deadliest days across the nation for alcohol related traffic crashes,” the statement said, citing to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

“Super Bowl Sunday is always a concern for us when it comes to drinking and driving,” McMahon said in the statement.  “That’s especially true this year with the hometown team in the game.”

Police say anyone planning to drink alcohol during the game should plan ahead and designate a sober driver.

“Howard County police are simply asking fans to use good judgment,” the statement reads, “And celebrate safely.”
