Greater Laurel United Soccer Club (GLUSC) Gearing Up For Fall Season

Interested in youth soccer? Read more about the upcoming fall season with the area's largest and most fun recreational league.

Summer might not be officially over until September 21st, but with the Prince George's County Public Schools back in session, it sure feels like we've waved 'buh-bye' to the Dog Days.  And with fall right around the corner, it's time to get signed up for the mighty GLUSC's fall soccer season.

The GLUSC has over 450 boys and girls playing on single-gender teams.  Unlike other clubs in the area we discovered years ago that boys and girls thrive when they are placed on separate teams.  It's not that one gender is 'better' than the other it's just that physically they play a different type of soccer.  George Martinez, a new GLUSC coach, will be travelling from College Park specifically so that his 8 and 10 year old daughters can play on an all-girls' team.

What's new this season with the GLUSC?  For one thing our U12 and U14 teams will be playing on a turf field off of nearby Greencastle Road.  The kids are psyched about this and can't wait to play on a field of such high quality.  According to Deb Dodson (U12 girl's league player) "It's going to be awesome!"

Also new is a comprehensive coaching manual that will allow all the GLUSC coaches (over 40 teams) to systematically instruct their players so that they not only improve their soccer skills, but have tons of fun along the way!  For years we've provided our coaches with access to premier soccer websites, training classes, a dvd library and many other coaching aids.  This is, however, the first time we've combined the best of all of these aids into one comprehensive package.

If you haven't signed up for the season yet, we have a few spots left.  You can sign up quickly and easily online and get more information at www.glusc.com. Teams will start practicing the first week of September and our first game is scheduled for September 15th.  We'll play 8 games and finish up the season on November 3rd.
