Big Changes Coming to Laurel Farmers Market

New name, and live entertainment top new direction for market.

Could Thursdays on Laurel’s Main Street soon look like a mini food and music festival?

The Laurel Leader is reporting that the Laurel Farmers Market is making some changes in the coming months that include a new name and possibly live music.

Organizers of the market hope to rename it Frank and Gail's Farmers Market and Bazaar in honor of the people who founded the market—though it will still be refereed to as the Laurel Farmers Market.

"In remembrance of the people that started the market and who worked so diligently to move this Main Street tradition to the next level by the addition of additional offerings, we named it after Francis (Frank) Gosmen and Gail Reinhardt," said Laurie Blitz, chair of the Laurel Board of Trade's Farmers Market Committee, to the Leader.

Changes include local entertainment during lunchtime, activities for children, and vendors that will sell soaps, photography, plants and flowers.
