Laurel-Beltsville Senior Center Turns 1 Year Old

Center celebrates its first year in operation.

The pushed passed the one-year mark this week.

The center's first year anniversary was marked by a party where attendees praised the facility for servicing the senior community in the region, according to the Laurel Leader.

"It's amazing, the community really needed it," facility manager Marybeth Dugan told the Leader. "Seniors love the building.”

The facility was , with seniors previously gathering at  space in the until last August. Dugan told the Leader that in the last year, the facility has had 36,000 scans of member identification cards, which are required for entry.

"This center has far exceeded my expectations, with the volume of seniors here on a daily basis, and the large numbers participating in classes and the special educational sessions,” Darilyn Marinelli, who oversees the five senior centers in Prince George's County, told the Leader.
