Summer Camp Returns To Boys and Girls Club

Club partners with Prince George's County Park and Planning to bring camp to the club.

A summer camp program is set to return to the later this month thanks to a partnership with the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission.

The Boys and Girls club will be partnering with the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission to house its summer camp program in the club's facility starting June 25 for six weeks, according to Levet Brown, director of the Boys and Girls Club.

Until this year, the club had operated its own summer camp program at the club. But during the spring, the because it could not hold its annual carnival fundraiser due to the closing of Laurel Mall where it took place. The cancellation of the camp also meant the loss of 30 jobs for youth, Brown said.

Park and Planning will operate the camp without involvement from Boys and Girls Club staff. The camp will cost $40 per child, Brown said though the club is not charging Park and Planning to use its facility.
