Weekend Weather: Coastal Report

Thinking about heading to the beach? Think about bringing a sweater. And maybe an umbrella.

Headed to the beach this weekend? 

Expect "a pleasant warm up" at three nearby beaches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), but the evenings will remind you, it's not summer yet.  

Temperatures in Ocean City are expected to hover around the low 80s this weekend, peaking at 83 on Saturday with clear, sunny skies, according to NWS.

Though temperatures will be 5 – 10 degrees higher than normal for this time of year, they will still drop to the high 60s at night.

Things are looking more summery at Rehoboth Beach, in Delaware, where temperatures are expected to reach 81 degrees on Friday, and go up from there to the mid-80s Saturday and Sunday, according to NWS.

You may want to pack a bathing suit and an umbrella, though, as there should be partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain and thunderstorm activity this weekend, too. Temperatures will drop to the low-to-mid 60s at night.

If want to break a sweat this weekend, you’ll have to head down to Virginia Beach where temperatures will start off in the low 80s Friday, and climb to near 90 degrees, according to NWS, with sunny skies.

Staying close to home?

If you stick around Howard County, you won’t be missing anything but the ocean. Temperatures will hover in the mid-80s all weekend, climbing to 87 by Sunday, according to NWS.

Expect sunny skies all day and partly cloudy skies at night. Temperatures should drop to the high 50s tonight and mid 60s on Saturday and Sunday.

In Carroll County, expect the same: temperatures in the mid-80s with sunny skies today and Sunday, and mostly sunny skies Saturday, according to NWS. Expect partly sunny skies at night, with temperatures in the high 50s tonight, and mid 60s tomorrow and Sunday night.

In Montgomery County, temperatures should be in the mid-to-high 80s all weekend with sunny skies, according to NWS.  Temperatures will drop to the mid-60s each night with partly cloudy skies.
