The Post NFL Apocalypse?

A preview in to the world of football after the NFL lockout.

Imagine a world where the only football on TV is college football. Or what they call "futbol" overseas.

Imagine a world where there is no playoffs, no Super Bowl, and no MVP.

Imagine a world where the only people profiting from football are the executives, not the players.

Can you picture it?

No?

Now that the Super Bowl is over, it is time to turn our attention to the big picture. Without a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), there will be no 2011-2012 NFL season. That means that there will be no professional football to be found, unless you count the UFL. Along with no season, there will be no free agency, no trades, and no rookies signed to contracts. Can you picture it?

One would ask, "Why would the NFL be willing to risk losing billions of dollars?" The answer is simpler than most "experts" construe it be. The owners of the NFL franchises are greedy. They are the ones that want the lockout, not the players. The owners are stubborn and really just want to make tons of money for themselves at the players' expense. The owners want to extend the regular season to contain two more games even though the rate of injury has increased. And they do not want to give the players lifetime benefits and health care in return.

Who knows who is really at fault here? Really, the biggest losers will be the fans. So I have one last question.

Can you picture it?

Get used to it.
