Hearing of the death of Dick Clark probably brought up different memories for different people, depending on their generation. Clark may have been best known as the host of New Years Eve festivities from Times Square but for Baby Boomers, Clark's name was synonymous with rock 'n roll music and the iconic television show American Bandstand. Clark was instrumental in the careers of hundreds of musicians, singers, rock groups and celebrities, and his death sparked an outpouring of sentiment from the Hollywood community. Bandstand also had personal meaning for the generations who watched as America's musical backdrop turned from the Big Band era to a rich mix of genres -- from blues and soul to gospel and Motown, with Clark's cleancut image …

G. Russell Walters led a life of public service.
Former Howard County Police Chief and the oldest living Maryland State Trooper has died at the age of 92, according to police. G. Russell Walters, also a WWII veteran, was the County’s police chief from 1969 – 1975 after serving 23 years with the Maryland State Police. He died Jan. 13. “Chief Walters made important changes to the agency that we can still see today,” current Howard County Police Chief William McMahon said in a statement issued Wednesday. “We are saddened by his death. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family from the entire Howard County Police family.” During his six years as police chief, Walters grew the force and its budget; according to police, he also doubled the number of police officers to more than 100 and …
