WATCH: Crews Remove Ellicott City Train Wreckage

Twenty-one trains cars were toppled after a train derailed in Ellicott City on Monday.

According to Howard County Police, days of work are still ahead for clean-up crews after a train derailment toppled 21 train cars full of coal and killed two young women late Monday. Crews operated cranes and shoveled machinery Tuesday in downtown Ellicott City to remove the spilled coal and tow away the parts of the train destroyed in the incident. Three-Car Collision on Route 29

Two injured during nighttime collision

Howard County Police are investigating a three-car collision along Route 29 in North Laurel last night that sent two people to the hospital. According to police, the incident happened around 9:14 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Route 29 just north of Johns Hopkins Road. The collision involved a 2009 Honda Civic, a 2002 Mercedes SUV, and a 2004 Toyota Sienna.  The Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Route 29 approaching Johns Hopkins Road, when it lost control striking the Mercedes SUV, causing the Mercedes to travel into the median where it rolled over multiple times.  The Honda Civic continued southbound on Route 29 where it struck the Toyota Sienna on the passenger’s side causing the Honda Civic to stop in the median. Laurel Offers Cash Reward For Hit-and-Run Suspect

City police are offering $3,000 for information leading to the capture of driver responsible for accident.

Laurel officials are now offering a cash reward to find the the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident of a pedestrian last week. Mayor Craig Moe and Police Chief McLaughlin announced on Wednesday a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the accident, which left a man in critical condition. According to police, the incident happened Feb. 29 near the eastbound Route 198 and Route 1 intersection when a white pickup truck struck a male pedestrian, knocking him over the guardrail and into the parking lot of a shopping center. The truck then sped off along Route 198. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Laurel CrimeLine Tip Line number at 301-498-7645.

Pedestrian Struck by Car on Route 1

Pedestrian struck by vehicle along Route 1 and Route 198 during rush hour traffic.

A vehicle stuck an unidentified woman this afternoon during rush hour traffic along Route 1, according to Laurel Police. The woman was struck while walking in the westbound lane along the Washington Boulevard and Talbott Avenue intersection close to 6 p.m. The vehicle involved in the accident stayed on the scene, according to police. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk when she was struck, according to police. She was taken to Prince George's County Hospital Center in Cheverly with non-life threatening injuries, according to paramedics.

Close Call on Route 1

Accident near intersection of Route 1 and Cherry Lane nearly sends motorist into stream near Laurel Lake.

A motorist involved in an accident along the intersection of Route 1 and Cherry Lane this afternoon narrowly avoided running into a stream near Laurel Lake. The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. today. According to witnesses, a black Toyota Camry traveling east bound on Cherry Lane ran a red light and struck another vehicle knocking it into a median along Cherry Lane. The Camry, according to witnesses, veered off the road and slid down the embankment toward Bear Branch, a stream that feeds into Laurel Lake, but managed to stop feet before sliding in. A worker from America's Best Contacts and Eye Glasses store told Laurel Patch that no one appeared injured or required medical attention. This story has been modified to correct an error…

Overturned Tractor Trailer Leaves Driver Dead

Northbound I-95 congested from accident.

Maryland State Police said a tractor trailer overturned on Northbound I-95 around noon on Friday, killing the driver. The incident occurred south of MD 175 in Jessup and involved only the tractor trailer, according to MSP spokeperson Greg Shipley. Police said details of the incident are not yet available.
