The 26-year-old is in critical condition after reportedly being attacked by another inmate.
A 26-year-old inmate was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition after he was assaulted Thursday night at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Jessup, according to state police. Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, correctional officers were informed by another inmate that a man in the east wing needed assistance, according to state police. Responding correctional officers found Javaughn A. Young, 26, lying in a walkway near the entrance to the wing with severe trauma to his head, said police. Police said another inmate has been identified as a suspect and charges against him are pending. Young, formerly of Hagerstown, had previously pleaded guilty to negligent manslaughter for a 2007 crash that …

Sunday, March 31 THEFT, 14300-BLK Baltimore Avenue, 12:54 p.m.: A patron of a local restaurant informed officers that he believed an employee had stolen his wallet from the table. Upon further investigation, officers located the wallet contained within the employee’s vehicle. A 57-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for theft under $100. SUNDAY, FEB. 3 Calls for Service: 110 SHOPLIFTER ARREST, 300-BLK Domer Avenue, 1:27 p.m.: A 45-year-old suspect was arrested for shoplifting at the CVS. MONDAY, FEB. 4 Calls for Service: 142 DOMESTIC ASSAULT, 500-BLK Ninth Street, 7:16 p.m.: A pregnant victim called to report being struck in the face by her boyfriend. The victim reported being punched in the face several times. Officers arrived and found the suspect had fled the scene, but police are familiar with the suspect and the investigation is ongoing. A woman at the hotel suffered a cut to her arm, police said.
Two people were arrested Wednesday after allegedly assaulting a woman in a Maryland City hotel room, the Capital Gazette reports. Gus T. Williams, 29, of Queenstown, and Melanie K. Camacho, 24, of Landover, were charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and weapons charges, according to the paper. Anne Arundel County police said that officers responded around 12:20 p.m. to the Knights Inn on Laurel Fort Meade Road, where they found a woman suffering from a small cut to her arm. Police believe the woman had been in a fight with Camacho and Williams. The latter was reportedly in possession of a knife when arrested. Read more from the Capital Gazette.
