Best of the blogs we have to offer in Pr. George's and Montgomery counties this week.
Yes, our job is to cover the news, but often the opinions of our readers are quite interesting, as well. Each week we publish dozens of blogs from people who live and work in our communities. Patch.com is adding a platform for local bloggers.
Savage-Guilford Patch is looking for bloggers who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions. Patch is more than a news site, it's an online conversation about your community. Then we want to hear from you. This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month. Patch won't own what you post, so you can repost your entries to your other blogs. Patch is providing local bloggers an online platform to have their words seen by a larger audience. Be interesting. Be provocative. Be yourself. My role as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to Savage…

Website crosses the line to make political point.
A great thing about living in Howard County is our proximity to two major urban centers, essentially doubling our opportunities for a wide variety of events. Monday night, I was able to be in attendance, mouth agape, watching the Red Sox blow the final remnants of a once-impressive wild card lead. The wild quasi-playoff game featured Vlad Guerrero becoming the best-hitting Dominican-born major league baseball player of all time; an improbable inside-the-park homerun; and, my favorite of baseball miscues, a balk. The next morning, I was in D.C. attending a forum on cyber security. One panelist, speaking about the internet and its effect on our lives, made a point that struck close to home. The web hasn’t changed anything, he said, so much …
