A Laurel resident was charged with impersonating an officer Saturday after authorities found extensive law enforcement-type equipment in his vehicle, according to Bowie police. Erick Shawn Cooke, 23, of Laurel was arrested alongside Deonte Monchez Callaham, 21, of Washington, D.C. and Demetrius Charles Callaham, 24, of Washington, D.C. outside of Regal Bowie Cinema (15200 Major Lansdale Blvd.). According to Bowie police, an officer on patrol around 12:05 a.m. noticed the three men "loitering and acting disorderly" next to a vehicle near the side entrance of the theatre. A Bowie man is facing criminal charges after police allegedly found $6,560 worth of marijuana and a stolen 9mm handgun Wednesday night in a shed on Antler Court South. Norman Patrick McClain, 22, is facing 12 separate charges stemming from the discovery. According to Bowie police, officers responded to the 2700 block of Antler Court South late Wednesday when a resident reported that someone was trying to break into a neighbor’s shed. Once on the scene, officers found that the shed was locked from the outside and appeared undisturbed. But when they noticed a strong marijuana odor coming from the shed, police asked the homeowner for permission to conduct a search. Marie Surowicz, 86, suffered fatal injuries after her own vehicle backed over her in the St. Edwards Catholic Church parking lot Sunday.
A Bowie woman was killed when her own car backed over her in the parking lot of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church on Sunday afternoon, according to Bowie police. Marie Surowicz, 86, suffered fatal injuries after attempting to park her car at the church. Witnesses told police that Surowicz exited her car after parking it in the lot, and that the car began rolling backwards. The car’s driver’s side door, which was still open, struck Surowicz causing her to lose her balance. The car then inadvertently struck Surowicz, witnesses told police. Surowicz was found on the pavement without a pulse by police at around 11:30 a.m. and transported to the Bowie Health Center where she was pronounced dead. This article has been updated to reflect …
