Prince George’s County Exec, Councilwoman Address District 1 Crowd

Large crowd turns out for town hall meeting.

Prince George's County officials, speaking at a town hall meeting, said the county budget continues to be a challenge and real improvement won't come until the county diversifies its financial base. District 1 Councilwoman Mary A. Lehman and County Executive Rushern L. Baker spoke at the community meeting at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. More than 100 residents turned out for the event, organized by Lehman to address District 1 constituents, which included residents in Laurel, College Park, Beltsville, Adelphi, and Calverton. Lehman gave residents a presentation of accomplishments made during the legislative session in Upper Marlboro. Lehman to Head Transportation, Housing and Environment Committee

Mary Lehman is selected to be chair of Prince George's County Council Committee.

Prince George's County Councilwoman Mary Lehman of Laurel has a powerful new assignment: She will be sitting at the summit of the Transportation, Housing and Environment committee. Council members are assigned to committees by the council chair and vice chair. District 1 Town Hall Meeting Draws Big Crowd

Crowd wants answers from Councilwoman Mary Lehman, County Executive Rushern Baker.

More than 100 Laurel, College Park, Adelphi, Beltsville and Calverton residents packed a District 1 town hall meeting this week, demanding answers about development, water rates and infrastructure from Prince George's County officials. Councilwoman Mary A. Lehman (D-Dist. 1) organized the meeting Wednesday night in Beltsville that included County Executive Rushern Baker and officials from county agencies. Residents peppered officials with questions about the approval of environmentally hazardous developments, increasing Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) rates, funding for infrastructure on county roadways and over-development in rural areas. I agree. I have been to the Dimensions hospital in Laurel and the service is very uneven. I was taken there by my daughter and the doctor who was to treat me was FAR more interested in her than the patient before him - ME. If I have a choice and am able to go elsewhere it is either Doctors or I go to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. No issues with either hospital. Just for the record, I am not the …   more ›
