Update: Early Morning Collision Kills Columbia Teen, Three Injured

A Columbia teenager was killed in a 3 a.m. collision on Thursday night, alcohol may have been involved.

Update - 2:15 p.m. - A spokesperson for the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center said Obafami Ilupeju is in critical condition and Tres Jones and Dontrell Milner are both in serious condition. All three were passengers in the vehicle when the collision occurred. Original Story A Columbia teenager was killed in a 3 a.m. Thursday collision on Columbia Road when the 2003 Audi A6 he was driving left the road and struck a tree, according to police. Police said alcohol may have been a factor. Police reported three other passengers were in serious condition after the accident. Laurel Man Dies In Burtonsville Car Crash

Man was only fatality in single-vehicle crash.

A West Laurel man is dead after being involved in a single-vehicle crash in Burtonsville over the weekend, according to Montgomery County Police. The incident occurred along Route 29 Saturday afternoon near Howard County when Glenn Clarence Mills II, 56, lost control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway into a ravine over a small creek just north of the Route 198 intersection, according to a report in The Gazette. Mills was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital but died later that day from his injuries. Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit are unsure why Mills veered off the road, but have said it is not a result of Friday’s storm and subsequent power outages, according to The Gazette. UPDATE: Alcohol Responsible for Fatal Laurel Car Crash, Police say

No charges filed against driver responsible for Sunday crash that killed a North Laurel Man.

A mix of speeding and alcohol are behind a fatal Sunday car accident that killed a North Laurel man, according to Prince George’s County Police. Police said they are continuing to investigate the full cause of the accident, which occurred along the intersection of Laurel-Bowie Road and Montpelier Drive Sunday afternoon. According to police, Olufemi Olagbaju, 56, of 9200 Fulton Avenue was fatally injured when a 2005 Mercedes-Benz traveling southbound struck a his vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has not been charged in the incident, according to Cpl. Henry Tippett, a police spokesman. Update: Officer Struck in Laurel

Police officer struck by a vehicle while chasing suspect near Route 1 sustained non-life threatening injuries.

This story was updated at 8:00 a.m. A Prince George's County Police officer was struck by a vehicle near Baltimore Avenue in Laurel late Friday and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to county police. The officer, not a Laurel Police officer as previously reported, had been chasing a suspect on foot along the westbound intersection of Route 1 and Route 198 when they were struck by a car. According to police, the officer was struck after slipping from an embankment; his right leg was injured by the car. The suspect fled the scene on foot. Woman Dead After Crash in Ellicott City

The driver missed a turn, collided with a tree, police say.

A woman died Thursday afternoon after her car collided head-on with a tree, according to Howard County Police. According to a statement released by Cpl. Christopher J. Krieger, the driver of a 2007 Infinity M35x was driving at about 2 p.m. on the 4300 block of Brittany Drive.  While driving westbound, she came to a bend in the road, but continued straight, hitting a mailbox and then colliding head-on with a tree, according to police. The driver was taken to Howard County General Hospital and died from her injuries. According to Krieger, the driver may have had a prior medical condition. Two-Car Collision Closes Two Lanes of I-95

A state police spokesperson said no serious injuries resulted.

A two-vehicle accident before 6:33 a.m. Monday temporarily shut down two lanes of southbound I-95 near Route 216 in North Laurel, according to Maryland State Police. A police spokesperson told Patch that the collision sent one person to Laurel General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are not releasing further details about the nature of the incident at this time.

Fatal Car Accident On Baltimore Washington Parkway

An early-morning accident has left at least one person dead.

At least one person is dead after an early-morning accident along Baltimore Washington Parkway in Laurel on Monday. According to reports, the accident happened shortly before 4 a.m. near the Route 197 exit. According to reports, a vehicle somehow turned over during the incident and one fatality was reported.
