Baltimore Woman Charged in HCC Bomb Threat

Police arrested a female HCC student on Thursday who allegedly called-in a bomb threat.

Sharonmarie Michelle Webb, 29, of Baltimore, was charged in a Howard Community College bomb threat incident that forced school authorities to evacuate buildings Thursday while it was investigated. Police said she is charged with making a statement or rumor about a destructive device. Some members of the campus community reacted in alarm to episode, which occurred Thursday. "[There are] no excuses to cause panic and commotion to students in schools, especially after everything that has taken place in other colleges," wrote one user on the Howard Community College Facebook page. Joshua Laskin said he is definitely addicted to his smart phone, and not just for texting, e-mailing and making phone calls. “There’s so many different applications. You can go on Facebook, you can play card games, you can play Scrabble, Tetris, whatever,” Laskin, 19, said. “It’s just an easy way to kill some time.” Laskin, a senior physics major at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, is one of a segment of the young population that is addicted to technology, according to a study by the University of Maryland, College Park’s International Center for Media and the Public Agenda.
