Update - 1 p.m. - According to Howard County Police, U.S. Route 1 re-opened at about noon Thursday, about six hours after a fatal collision. All three men were from Prince George's County, according to Explore Howard. More information about the deadly collision was released Tuesday by state police.
Maryland State police have released more information Tuesday on the fatal crash Sunday officials originally said killed one woman and seriously injured a child. Officials said Tuesday that two people were killed in the accident early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 North near Waterloo Road in Columbia after a three-car collision. On Monday, a state police spokesperson told Patch there was one confirmed fatality: Sadia Soto, 31, of Arlington VA., was killed after being trapped in a Toyota 4Runner that was engulfed in flames. No charges filed against driver responsible for Sunday crash that killed a North Laurel Man.
A mix of speeding and alcohol are behind a fatal Sunday car accident that killed a North Laurel man, according to Prince George’s County Police. Police said they are continuing to investigate the full cause of the accident, which occurred along the intersection of Laurel-Bowie Road and Montpelier Drive Sunday afternoon. According to police, Olufemi Olagbaju, 56, of 9200 Fulton Avenue was fatally injured when a 2005 Mercedes-Benz traveling southbound struck a his vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has not been charged in the incident, according to Cpl. Henry Tippett, a police spokesman.
