Savage Mill's Eclectic Holiday Gifts - A Photo Guide

Patch combed through Savage Mill last week to bring you a guide to the mill's gifts.

  Combing through the winding hallways and grand rooms of Savage Mill's eclectic shops is a bit like stepping back in time to when store owners manned their shops' counters and gifts didn't come in impossible-to-open plastic shrink wrap. Savage Mill is the location of more than 30 small shops that offer toys and gifts ranging from magic tricks to antique clocks. Patch combed through several of the stores last week to present you with the photos above. On Dec. 10 the mill began its holiday hours, which will run until Christmas Eve. During that time, shops will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.   There's nothing worse than beginning preparation on a Thanksgiving feast for your family, only to discover that you forgot to grab that one key ingredient! I agree. Seriously? This is so unnecessary and only a way to make more money. I have not shopped in any store on Thanksgiving ever and don't plan on changing it now. It's sad that the employees essentially have no choice in the matter and are being practically forced to work on a holiday where they should be home with family and friends.
