Police are still working to identify a suspect and motive in last week's incident.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the twin killings of Tina Lynn Towler and James Vell Ferguson, the South Laurel couple found slain in their apartment last Thursday. According to police, a nurse who cares for Towler's severely disabled daughter discovered their bodies when she arrived at their home in the 9600 block of Muirkirk Road that morning. Towler, 45, and Ferguson, 42, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The 25-year-old daughter, who suffers from paraplegia and cerebral palsy, was also found in the apartment. The former Elkridge resident is accused of killing his wife and burying her under a shed more than 20 years ago.
The trial began Wednesday for a man accused of murdering his wife and burying her body under a shed in their yard Robert Jarrett, Jr., formerly of Elkridge, was indicted in May for the 1991 murder of his then-wife, Christine Jarrett. After getting permission to search the Elkridge property from Jarrett’s second wife, police found Christine Jarrett’s remains on April 18, 2012, under concrete, under a shed in the yard. Jarrett and his second wife have since divorced. A gunman entered 17-year-old Amber D. Stanley’s home on Chartsey Street Wednesday night and shot and killed her in her bedroom. Stanley was a senior honors student at Charles H. Flowers High School and according to WUSA9, had dreams of attending Harvard University next year. Police say one man is dead after an argument turned physical at a mobile home park in North Laurel.
Howard County Police charged a 20-year-old Laurel man in the stabbing death of a Savage man early Thursday night in North Laurel, according to a press release from the department. According to the statement, officers responded to a report of an assault at the Midway Mobile Home Park on the 10000 block of North 2nd Street. Police found Robert Lynn Foster, 46, of Savage, lying near the entrance of the mobile home park suffering from a stab wound. Personnel transported Foster to Laurel Regional Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A Laurel man has been charged in the Fourth of July shooting death of a Washington, DC, teen, according to Metropolitan Police. Calvin Shaw, 22, of Laurel, has been charged with first-degree murder stemming from an incident last week along the 5000 block of First Street in North West, reports The Washington Post. According to police, the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. Wednesday when a group gathered along the block. Three men, all carrying handguns, approached the group on foot and suddenly opened fire, according to the Post. Witnesses said at first the group thought the gunshots were fireworks. North Laurel man sentenced to 30 years.
A North Laurel man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of the burning death of his girlfriend in North Laurel. According to The Laurel Leader, Richard Allen Rodola, 50, received the maximum sentence and will not be eligible for parole until he has served half of his sentence. Police and prosecutors said Rodola poured gasoline over 37-year-old Pamela Myers before lighting her on fire in the woods by Route 1 in North Laurel in the fall of 2010. Rodola testified he and Myers, who lived together in the woods, were intoxicated and arguing, and the fire was an accident. A jury spent 22 hours deliberating before reaching the guilty verdict for second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the death of Myers, …
