First-Year Firefighter Gives 'Gift of Life'

Firefighter Stephanie Andrews was recognized for her off-duty heroism.

Firefighter Stephanie Andrews was a last-minute addition to a soccer game in Anne Arundel County last April – the coed team needed another women in order not to forfeit, she explained at Thursday night’s Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Awards Ceremony. Andrews was checking in guests to the ceremony, but she was also one of the most–talked about awardees that night because of what she did at the Soccer Dome. She saved a life. Laurel Academic Honors: Frostburg Dean's List, UMW President's List

The following academic honors and degrees were recently earned by students from Laurel (as reported by their schools and family members): Clark University: Amanda G. Palmer of Laurel has been named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the Fall 2012 semester. To be eligible for second honors, students must have a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.79, of a maximum of 4.3.  Frostburg State University: The following students from Laurel have been named to the dean's list at Frostburg State University in recognition of outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2012 semester.
